12 September, Delft, The Netherlands

Our third day in Delft. We've been so busy I don't quite know where to start, so a few highlights.
The day before yesterday we caught up with Conny and she showed us the cemetery where Tante Ria is buried. The gravestone is not in place yet but we were very pleased to be able to see this beautiful place where our aunt now rests together with her husband Wim.
Conny also took us to have a look at the nursing home where Tante Ria spent the last year or so. Also a very beautiful place. It looks more like a hotel than a nursing home, and much less clinical looking than those in Australia. Late in the afternoon we were joined by Aad who had just finished work and we all had dinner together in a great Indian restaurant. The food was terrific and we had a great evening.
They even had Kingfisher beer - I was impressed.
Yesterday we walked from our hotel into the centre of Delft. We then caught a tram into Den Haag to meet Conny for lunch. Conny works in the Den Haag central library which is a very impressive multi story building. Conny had taken the afternoon off and booked us into a fabulous restaurant (Het Gouden Hooft) for lunch. We had a very leisurely and tasty lunch.
After lunch Conny showed us some of the important and historic buildings in Den Haag, including the houses of parliament.
Later in the afternoon we returned home with Conny and were joined a little later by Aad. We were still full from lunch so we had bread and rookworst (and beer) while we watched an Andrea Bocelli concert. What a great evening together. Conny and Aad then drove us back to our hotel and the end of another day. Today we will catch up with Jiska and Conny in my favourite cafe in Delft - the Belvedere and this evening we are having dinner with Conny and Aad and Conny's brother Paul.
Tomorrow John and Sandra will pick us up and take us to Haarlem where we will spend a few days  before we board our cruise boat to Budapest in Hungary.
