16 June - Waikiki, Hawaii

The day started at 08:00 this morning with a continental breakfast at the swimming pool. I think we all slept well last night after being awake for a very long time. We had decided that today would be spent exploring Waikiki. As I mentioned earlier things have changed a lot since the last time we were here (1997 for us and 1983 for John and Sandra). We caught the Pink Line Trolley into Alla Moana Shopping Center and by 1pm we were back at the International Market Place in Waikiki. From here it was a slow meander back to our hotel which is the last hotel before Diamond Head which is just visible  right in the middle of this photo.

From our hotel we get a very good view of Diamond Head which is the crater of an extinct volcano, and one of the most recognisable landmarks in the world.

Later in the afternoon we made some bookings as follows:

- tomorrow a snorkeling tour in Hanauma Bay. We get picked up at 10:15
- Tuesday we have hired a Chrysler Convertible for a tour around the island
- Wednesday - we have booked the Pearl Harbour tour.

The weather is perfect all day along and now that we are rested we are enjoying every minute of Hawaii.
